Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
1. Our Privacy Commitment
At GIF Compress, we believe that online tools should not require you to surrender your data. Our core design principle is that all file processing must happen on your device, not on our servers. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our Service.
2. No Data Collection
GIF Compress does not collect, store, or transmit any files you process. All GIF compression, resizing, cropping, and format conversion is performed entirely within your browser using WebAssembly technology. Your files never leave your device. We have no access to your GIFs and no means to view, copy, or store them.
3. No Personal Information Collection
We do not require account registration. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any other personally identifiable information. We do not use forms that request personal data.
4. Cookies and Tracking
We do not use cookies for tracking purposes. We do not use third-party analytics services that track individual users. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. The Service does not build user profiles or behavioral advertising profiles.
5. Browser Storage
The Service may use your browser's local storage and Cache API exclusively for storing the application shell (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WebAssembly modules) to enable faster repeat visits and offline functionality through our service worker. No file data or personal information is stored locally beyond this application cache.
6. Third-Party Services
The Service loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). When your browser requests these font files, Google may receive standard HTTP request information including your IP address and browser user agent, as described in Google's Privacy Policy. We do not share any additional data with Google or any other third party.
7. Service Worker and Offline Use
Our Service registers a service worker for offline functionality and performance caching. The service worker caches application code and assets locally. It does not cache, intercept, or monitor any file data you process through the tool.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since we do not collect any personal information from any users, we have no mechanism to age-verify or identify children who may use the Service.
9. Data Security
Because all processing happens in your browser and no data is transmitted to our servers, the security of your files is equivalent to the security of your device and browser. We recommend keeping your browser and operating system updated to benefit from the latest security patches.
10. Your Rights
Under data protection laws including GDPR and CCPA, you have rights regarding your personal data. Since we do not collect, store, or process any personal data, there is no personal data to access, rectify, delete, or port. If you have questions about exercising your data rights, please contact us.
11. Data Transfer and International Users
Because all file processing occurs locally in your browser, no file data is transferred internationally. The static website assets (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WebAssembly) are served through a global content delivery network (CDN) that may cache and serve content from servers in various countries. When you visit the Service, your browser requests these static assets from the nearest CDN edge location, which may be in a different country than your own. No personal data or file data is involved in this process — only the delivery of the public website code.
If you have concerns about which CDN locations serve your browser requests, you can inspect the network requests in your browser's Developer Tools. All requests are to static asset URLs and do not contain query parameters, cookies, or identifiable payloads.
12. Analytics and Performance Monitoring
We do not use any third-party analytics services, user tracking scripts, or performance monitoring tools that collect individual user data. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Hotjar, or any similar services. We do not run A/B tests, user behavior tracking, or session recording.
We may monitor aggregate infrastructure metrics (total page requests, bandwidth usage, error rates) at the CDN level solely for operational purposes — ensuring the site remains available and performing well. These metrics are anonymous, aggregated, and cannot be correlated to individual users or sessions.
13. Data Retention and Deletion
Because the Service does not collect or store any user data, there is no data to retain or delete. Your compressed GIFs exist only in your browser's memory during the active session. When you close or navigate away from the page, the processed file data is released from memory by your browser's garbage collection. We have no ability to recover, access, or retain any file you process.
For the application cache stored by the service worker (see Section 5), you can clear this at any time through your browser's site settings or by clearing your browser cache. The cached assets are identical to what is served from the CDN and contain no personal data or file content.
14. Do Not Track Signals
The Service does not track users across sites or over time. Because we do not engage in tracking, we do not respond differently to Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals — there is nothing to disable. Your use of the Service is functionally identical whether DNT is enabled or disabled in your browser settings.
15. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
Since GIF Compress does not collect, store, sell, or share any personal information, these rights are inherently satisfied. There is no personal information to disclose, delete, or opt out of. This statement serves as our disclosure under CCPA § 1798.100: we do not collect personal information as defined by the Act.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When changes are made, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about our privacy practices. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
17. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or our privacy practices, please contact us through the information provided on our website. We are committed to addressing any privacy concerns promptly.
